Pottahawk 2017 – Sunday, July 9th
Canada’s biggest boat party is fast approaching. Every year on the second Sunday of July, over 2,000 boats and 10,000 people boat out to Pottahawk Point which is located on Lake Erie, a 20 min ride from Long Point Ontario. Pottahawk Pissup itself can be described as a day long “mardi-gras” like party in the water.
A wonderful aspect about this event, is it’s non-commercialism. There’s no official promoters, organizers, sponsors or vendors. Best of all, it’s totally free to attend. It’s all about enjoying the summer, boating, getting wet and living life to the fullest!
*No Littering: Although there’s not many trash bins at Pottahawk, littering is still illegal and you can be charged. If you can’t find a trash bin, ask a boat. Everyone will accept your trash with open arms and you’ll be saving the beautiful waters you’re currently enjoying.
*Boat Safety: Every year people are hurt and sometimes killed due to drinking and boating or driving. Remember you’re smarter than that. Watch the OPP’s boat safety video, read our survival tips and remember to respect the local residents.
